So I guess that's the D-man San Jose has been looking for. I've been hearing Souray for ages from our boy Ekland.

It'll free up some cash for the offseason if nothing else.

What's the story with Gorges? I don't follow the west, so I have no idea.

Assets - Makes the most of his ability and usually limits the mistakes in the defensive zone. Is a quality teammate with sound work ethic.
Flaws - Is extremely limited in the offensive zone. Doesn't use his size nearly enough. Lacks foot speed along the backline.
Career potential - No. 6 or 7 defenseman.

I think by now it's pretty much established the draft isn't going to be very deep after the 15th or so pick. Playoff teams aren't hesitating trading their 1st rounders away.

A couple of scrubs. First rounders are only as good as the players you can draft that year. If most players below #15 are projected third and fourth liners (after waiting for 5 years), with the exception of the odd hidden gem (which you can also get with your 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th picks), you won't do much with a low first rounder compared to an established player.

Besides, didn't Nolan clear re-entry waivers? It's going to have to be a good package if the Coyotes want to move him.
